Impressions of university

Hello, my dear readers!~

As I've told you in one of my last posts about university, I now have decided to write another one with some photo impressions of my new surroundings. At the moment they aren't many, but at least some ^___^

At first, this is my uncut identity card. It's quite disappointing that it's made of paper, not even plastics as we maybe would expect from our original identity cards...

Some of the books I now use - I never had so many obligatory books. And in this picture four other books are still missing I already got now, for example also a huge English dictionary.

One of the books I found in the Germanist's library, it's an edition of the "Carmina Burana"! One of my favourite medieval works, it's really impressing although it's written in Latin and sometimes a bit difficult to understand. But what really impressed me was the year of publication: 1847! It didn't looked that old at first sight, and it was in very good condition~
This is one of the six library rooms in the germanistic seminar. There is even a gallery with even more and older books, as you can see in the upper right corner~

And this is the most fabulous thing ever: The handdryer at the ladies'! xD It looks so retro and old-fashioned, but seriously, it's awesome! You need to kick and hold the pedal as long as you want to use it, and it not even seems to be that antique; it doesn't rustle or something, it's in very good condition! Before I'll leave this university again I will unscrew it and take it home xD
How awesome is that? xD

Welcome at Lecture Hall I! This time I sat on the gallery and it's quite comfortable there~ You at least can lean back like in the cinema - if you try to do so downstairs you will hit the materials from the person sitting behind you, that's not very bewitching...
This lecture hall was the theatre hall when the building still was a palace, so it still looks a bit antique - but we also have more modern rooms

Well, of course I still haven't taken photos of everything interesting, but maybe I'll write another post with new impressions. Nevertheless,

thank you for reading!

Q & A Halloween

Good day, dearest readers!

Because I found a nice questionnaire concerning halloween I decided to answer to it, just for fun ^__^ you may also take the questions if you want to?

Okay, let's get started~

1. What are you being for Halloween this year?
I don't know yet... I never plan what I will wear at halloween. But it's quite easy for me to choose an outfit, I just need to look into my wardrobe and I will definitely find enough gothic clothing to create a look xD maybe this year I'll wear a short black-red dress and style as a demon with horns, as I already have done at the AnimagiC this year - but I guess it will be too cold for this at the end of October >___<;

2. Favorite costume from past Halloweens?
They all didn't were awesome, I don't have a particular one...

3. Do you still go trick or treating?
For the last few years not... But I would love to do once again! Unfortunately not many people here in Germany do, just some children...It's always deadly boring where I'm living. I would love to see it one time in America where it's a real tradition, it must be marvelous ^___^

4. Top 3 favorite scary movies
I don't watch that many movies, especially no scary ones, neither horror... If you can count them as some I'd say:
1. Van Helsing
2. Corpse Bride

3. Nightmare before Christmas

5. Top 3 non-scary Halloween movies
I really have no idea...

6. Do you watch Halloween specials on TV?
As if there would be Halloween specials on TV here in Germany... Maybe, I don't know. If I would be on a party with friends, sure, why not having some fun together? ^__^

7. What was your first Halloween costume?
A simple witch costume - later I changed to Dracula I still have in my wardrobe ^___^

8. Would you ever wear a "sexy" Halloween costume?
Maybe... Only when it's not too cold outside and when I'm with friends, but not in privacy or alone.

9. Most ridiculous "sexy" costume you've seen?
This xD it was one of HIZAKI's outfits for a halloween party some years ago and I couldn't stop laughing anymore xD

10. Would you rather go to a Halloween party or go trick or treating?
I think I'd prefer trick or treating ^___^

11. Favorite candy to find in your trick or treat bag?
Chocolate bars or marshmallows~

12. Candy or other goodies that make you want to cut a bitch when someone gives them to you?
Nothing comes up my mind at the moment - I'm glad about everything I receive, although I don't know what I shall do with it later ^___^;

13. Any Halloween traditions?
Drinking tomato juice ^___^

14. Have you ever been tricked on Halloween?
Yes, by a group of older children when I was very young... I was really scared of them (.___.; and one time I was out for trick and treat in a "countryside" village and it was very dark on a path without lights through the fields... And suddenly we heard a galopp, and I needed a while to realize it just were some horses. Damned, I was so frightened to death in the first moment!

15. Costumes: make or buy?
In general my "costumes" (I'd prefer to say outfits) consist of bought clothes

16. Have you ever pulled a Halloween prank?
Not really...

17. Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes, but only in spirits of the death next to you, not in haunting ones like they're described in books. We can't perceive them, but they're there. But they also can't harm you, that's what I believe.

18. You're in a horror movie. Are you the final girl, the first to die, the comic relief, the skeptic, the smart one, or the killer?
I think I'd be the last to die - but in the final match I then also would die xD

19. You're in a zombie apocalypse. What's your weapon of choice?
(Always these zombie apocalypses...) Everything I get into my hands; a grenade, bow and arrows, but even a hairdryer or if it has to be a notebook...

20. Costumes: scary, sexy, or funny?
Maybe a mix of everything? Most of all impressive and designed elaborately, then it doesn't matter.

21. You're a ghost. How do you spend Halloween?
Creeping around little costumed children and frighten them to death (>A<)

22. Trick or treating: how old is too old?
You're never too old for trick and treat; you're always only that old like you feel~

23. Do you pass out candy on Halloween?
Only what I already have in my house, I don't buy additional candy for Halloween - but there's always something sweet in my jar, so I never run out of stuff ^___^

24. Do you go trick or treating even when it's raining?
I did when I was a child - today it would depend on the mood in general.

25. Top 3 favorite scary stories/books
I prefer fantasy novels, not scary stories or crime. I only know Stephen King's "It", but I stopped reading after 50 pages, it just wasn't my story...

26. Trick or treat?
Definitely trick ^___^

I hope you enjoyed~
Happy Halloween to everyone ^___^

Start of University

Good day, dear readers!~

Finally this week my life at university started! I must confess, it is A LOT and when you see the semester program of every single class, you ask yourself how you shall manage with everything in time... And moreover the final exams are approaching and you need to have so much background knowledge for passing them...
It is much more self-organization in school: You need to check wheter you have signed in for all classes, you need to check where you have to go next in such a huge building, with so many more strangers...
Then you sit at university quite long until evening, the lectures can become quite long if your professor talks slowly and time extends like chewing gum...
Suddenly you fall into a full time job of lots of work - just an example for calculating the amount of work you need to do:

You're studying for three years, de facto six semesters (if you manage with the regular time and don't need longer). Every semester you need to earn 30 credit points so that you reach 180 at the end. In average you need to put 30 hours of work in earning one credit point, so 30x30 makes 900 hours of work in these three and a half months...

As a next step you need to buy lots of obligatory literature - just this week I've spent more than 200€ just for the learning books, and that still aren't all I need. For example the Oxford dictionary still misses, and maybe you can imagine how much that costs...

The classes are huge, everybody learns for him- or herself, it's hardly individual where you can communicate with each other. Moreover my university has huge problems concerning the lecture halls; they're way too small for so many students and most of them need to stand or to sit on the floor in the last row.

...Sounds deterrend?

yes, it is.

BUT

I also have realized: You can manage to handle with it. At first you need to get into the learning process again and get used to the stress, but if you encourage yourself you can be successful. Of course the first year is the hardest because you're forced to do all the dry and theoretical stuff nobody would do voluntarily, but when you can focus on your interests from the second year on it will gradually become better.
I try not to loose my head of confusion and of the huge amount, I already have started to work eagerly as good as I can. I think in a few weeks it really will make fun, also when you get to know some people more closely and get used to the new surroundings and society. Just never give up, whatever you're doing (appeal to everyone of you!!)~

See you another time with more interesting news, hopefully ^___^
